Colorado Youth Citizenship Award was founded in 1976, in the belief that whatever is honored and respected will be cultivated and rewarded in middle school students. It is affiliated with Colorado Awards, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to strengthen the foundations of freedom by promoting and rewarding excellence in education and civic responsibility from Teachers and Students.
The program was introduced to the Denver Public Middle schools in 1976, so 2007 marks our Thirty-second year of continuous service! Each year the Denver Chapter has honored approximately forty-eight students for their achievements in citizenship in their home, schools and communities. There are no administrative costs so the monies received each year are used to pay for supplies, lunches for the field trips, and banquet tickets for the honorees and their parents. Recently, the cost has ranged from $75 to $80 per student per year. Obviously, donations are needed and greatly appreciated.
| Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
| The Colorado Awards Tax Identification Number is ID-85-0293005.
